# What is the difference between a coding test and interview evaluation?

A coding test creates a new exercise and measures performance inside that test. Interview evaluation examines the conversation a company already conducted, then connects the candidate's attributable answers to the configured role criteria and visible evidence gaps. Compare the decision each product supports, the evidence it uses, and whether a reviewer can inspect and correct the result.

## The full answer

The two workflows can complement each other. A coding exercise may show implementation behavior under its own conditions, while the interview can contain architecture, ownership, tradeoff, collaboration, and delivery evidence that needs a separate review.

## What to verify

Compare the decision each product supports, the evidence it uses, and whether a reviewer can inspect and correct the result.

A qualified person reviews the evidence and remains responsible for the final employment decision.
